This story makes me laugh.. laugh because I think it is ridiculous that they charged you $50 for a book that was only 4 mins late. That's more than the book cost itself.

I think it is a good thing that you are writing a letter to the Dean of Library Affairs and to the Chancellor of the university. I'm proud that you are standing up and voicing your opinion. That is a good thing. They need to know how you feel, and I'm sure other students on campus appreciate you writing this letter also. I do have a suggestion, we already talked about this and I don't know if you are still going to do this..but it would be kind of neat to see your letter published in the DE, to see what kind of response you would get from other students that have faced the same situation you have, or just to know what their thoughts and opinions are on this matter. Overall, I think your letter is good, and well stated, and the point you are trying to make is very clear. Hopefully after reading this the Dean of Library Affairs and the Chancellor of the university, will reconsider their policy for late charges for overdue books, and change it to a fair, yet reasonable price. Good job! I love you very much!

yeh, some of the language is a little harsh and direct. Perhaps I will tone it down a little bit. I really want to get something done here, rather than just insult them.

I think it's good stuff, man. I would've worded some things differently, but that's just my style. I think you should consider sending something like this to the DE.
