Ricky Nelson (left) and Juan Martinez (right) stand outside Ricky's storefront.
Ricky is the owner of Nelson & Son’s Auto Detailing on 601 N. Davis Dr. in Warner Robins, Georgia. This photo was taken outside his business.
Here is the original version with only natural light (see comments below). The final image was lit with one 580exii on 1/2 power from camera right. The flash was positioned at a 90 degree angle from the subject to eliminate reflection in the window. A second 580exii was used on camera with a homemade diffuser modifier for fill.

Quite a difference from the lit image above.
Out of the three you’ve posted, this is my favorite. I’m not sure why I’m drawn to this image more than the others, but it might be the man leaning on the door watching what’s going on outside.
The deck brush on the left is a nice addition. I think that wall is a little hot. At first I see the wall and brush, and then I notice the 2 guys almost as an afterthought. Although, it does read very well left to right, because the last thing I notice is the man behind the glass on the far right.
I saw him watching me take the picture from inside the shop and decided to include him in the composition. I really like the way he turned out in the final image.
This image had to be filled considerably with strobe because of the nature of the natural light. The first image without any flash had both of the subjects in complete shadow, with only the exterior wall and concrete exposed properly. You can see the shadow that the late afternoon sun casts across the image. I will post the original image to show the difference.
Yeah, I agree with you about the reading of the image. There is a nice progression from left to right and front to back in the image, with the man on the far right in the back of the frame, and the brush in the far left in the front of the frame.
